The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Over Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
